Mindfulness for Teens

 Mindfulness for Teens Ages 13-18 - with Meghan Dutton and Erica Marcus

This offering is especially geared for teens who would like to experience insight meditation (or mindfulness) and learn how to manage stress, build compassion for oneself and others, and improve a feeling of well-being and joy. The science behind mindfulness will be introduced, along with discussions, mindful movement, "loving kindness" and mindful sitting and walking practice sessions. All teens, ages 13-18, are welcome to come and experience this unique program.

Erica Marcus, MAT, is a certified Mindful Schools Instructor and Kripalu Yoga Teacher. She pursued Mindful Schools training after years of teaching at a high performing charter middle school in Washington, D.C.  She has over 15 years of experience working with young people as a mindfulness educator, classroom teacher, outdoor educator, and senior wilderness youth therapy field staff member. Erica now offers mindfulness programming for students and teachers throughout New England. She also has developed workshops and curriculum around issues of screen dependency. In her free time, she paints, writes, hikes, runs, surfs, and eats ice cream. Meghan Dutton lives in Newburyport, MA and currently works as a special educator, certified yoga instructor, and certified Mindful Schools mindfulness educator in schools throughout Massachusetts. She has worked with youth for the past ten years as an educator, yoga teacher, mindfulness facilitator, and staff member of Inward Bound Mindfulness Education (iBme) teen retreats. Her work has incorporated mindfulness practices in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms, along with leading Professional Development in schools on mindfulness in education.
